E320 (w210) OBD2 compatibility?

Hi fellow members. I am new to the forum and this is my first post.
I have recently purchased a really nice low mileage E320 of 1998 vintage.
I have searched this and other forums and have been unable to find a definitive yes or no as to whether this car is OBD2 compatible. I realise that I would require a 38 pin to 16 pin D type conversion lead.
If anyone could give me a positive answer I would appreciate it,

My 2000 CLK uses the 38 pin system and it's the only car out of dozens we've not been able to read with a Snap On Solus scanner. A contact with a Bosch scanner could, but his was pretty high end.
