Hi Guys
As a newbie, I'm hoping someone out there has a gem of advice with regard to my E320 Cdi Sport 2007 estate, self levelling rear suspension has failed. The rear of the car is sitting way down. I got a malfunction warning on the dash display. Both sides are the same. I've checked the fuses that I can find but all OK.

Any ideas anyone please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hello Ricardo,

I can't answer your question but welcome anyway.

There's lots of knowledge on here and your answer will come soon enough.

There is a fuse for the rear suspension hidden under the carpet in one of the footwells iirc.

And if that doesn't do it, then you really have little option but to (carefully) drive it to the nearest dealer/indie and get it on STAR for proper diagnosis.

I suspect one of the air bellows has failed. IIRC they are £400 ish.

I would suspect the system is linked so that the car always sits evenly.

If one of the air springs has failed then the car will be undriveable as the car will be sitting on the floor on that side .
If the warning message is showing on the dash then its wornt looking at the fuse . Its under the drivers foot well carpet . Theres a plastic cover beside the accerator pedal with fuses underneath , there the large blade type and the air suspension on is a 40 amp .

Hi Guys
Thanks to all for the replies. I've looked around the accelerator pedal and cannot see a plastic cover. This is a 2007 model year car so perhaps they're different?? The only fuses I can find are in the side of the dashboard (RHS) and behind the LHS cover in the back of the car. (It's an estate) All fuses are OK. It's going into a garage for diagnostics so I'll leave a post when I find out what's wrong;- just in case anybody else has the same problem.

Fingers crossed, sphincter twitching and wallet very nervous!

are both sides gone down

did they ever come back up at all

the sensors on the shocks can give trouble sending a wrong signal

also you have not had a tow bar fitted lately have you i had a car which started doing this a few weeks after a tow bar was fitted and it turned out to be the wiring job some one had done

a star test is the best answer

The carpet needs to be removed frist , the fuses are under the carpet beside where the accetator pedal mounts .

Thanks to all. Car is fixed. It was a levelling sensor apparently. Wallet dented but intact, £188 lighter but could have been an awful lot worse.
