Hi Chaps

My driver door speaker isnt working, has anyone had similar issues?

Where do I start, door trim off or head unit to diagnose the problem?

Thanks in advance
Si

hi guys, I've done a bit if research as and apparently the heads unit is connected via fibre optic to the audio gateway (agw) in the boot. does anyone have the wi rt ring diagrams for this? I want to check the outputs and continuity to the door speaker. I front think the door tweeter is working either, does this help me pinpoint the problem? Is the AGW U/S, is there a test and repair agency or does anyone have a spare I can try?

Regards
si

What radio has the car got fitted , is it
Comand
Audio 50
Audio 20 with CD
or
Audio 20 with tape ,
The Audio 20 with CD wont have an audio gate way the speakers all connect to the head unit , all the other types have an audio gate way and the speakers connect to an audio gate way in the passenger side of the boot .

I guess the unit must be a "Audio 20 with tape" unless there is another unit that has a tape, why does the tape have an AGW and not the CD?

Si

It is just the older units had a seperate AGW. Later cars came with Audio 20 CD as standard where MB integrated everything into the headunit as it already was on other models. Comand NTG1 still had a seperate AGW but the later Comand NTG2.5 fitted to MY09> cars had everything built in like Audio 20 CD.

Many thanks does anyone have a wiring diagram or details of a replacement parts supplier/repair. How common is it that the agw fails?

You can get them on ebay.

Or contact Alfie or Richard from Comand.co.uk they may be able to repair it or supply a second hand one if it is faulty.

Hi Chaps

Had the AGW out today and checked with a spare speaker, working OK.

I started with the boot as I didnt want to rip the door apart.

I then checked the door and took off the small cover by the controls, low and behold the connector X35/2 was disconnected, I reconnected it and BINGO, working again :bannana:.

I have attache dthe wiring diagram and pic. of connector.

I know this is an old thread but I found it and wow, this fixed my problem. I have a 2005 E320 CDI with the exact same issue. Drivers door speakers weren't working. Removed the cover shown on the door in the image showed earlier and the speaker plug was un-plugged. Love the MB forums! Thanks All!!
