E320cdi
This is my first post and this is my first MB. It’s an E320cdi face lift on a 57 plate and I have had it for 6 months (I have to say its awesome)
It has done 115,000miles and came with a full main dealer service history.
Unfortunately it has started to suffer with the (common from reading this forum) occasional intermittent problem of jumpy acceleration followed by limp home mode. (Stopping/ taking the key out and immediately putting it back in completely cures it) there are no warning lights on the dash.
I had it hooked up to star at an Indy and the fault codes seemed to confirm this (They did try replacing a sensor which made no difference)
I have read lots of post about it saying it’s not a fault with the turbo itself but the actuator electronics, however, as they come as one part (turbo and actuator) the only cure is a complete new turbo.
However there are people who rebuild the actuator electronics (rebuild your own for £70)-
ELECTRONIC MERCEDES TURBO ACTUATORS

Has any one tried this and does anyone know the success rate?

See my thread on this...Premier Diesel in Leicester are my recommendation

Search OM642 turbo actuator on here to see the thread

MBs naughty little secret…

Well I had the actuator changed at the recommended above in Leister.

Its £75 for a reconditioned part if you send in the old one, or drive in and they swap for a reconditioned one all in £150.

Apparently it’s the mother board that wears out in the actuator which is an exchangeable part and easily done.

It took 30 mins to have done and….. 100% fixed :)

The car is transformed with lots more power (especially low down torque) Iv saved enough to have a terra-clean and maybe a remap - any recommendations on the best for this engine?

I have heard lots of main dealers/ specialist indies use this service and I cannot wonder how many people have been charged for a full new turbo (£1600 I was quoted) and just got a reconditioned actuator that cost the main dealer £75?

I cannot thank t-dawg1 enough – saved me well over 1K :) Top man

Remap, go to MSL in Birmingham basically.
