E320cdi 660,000miles

Hurrah a positive comment on a W210!!!!!!......agreed....really comfortable cars to drive and they eat the miles. Makes it even more annoying that MB in their wisdom saddled them with rubbish paint.

I must admit when I had my w210 E300td I found it extremely comfortable to sit in (driver and passengers) and extremely comfortable to drive.....luckily I didn't have it long enough to experience the rust issues, but as you say, such a shame really. Long distance driving in it was never tiring and motorway fuel economy was fantastic and plenty of torque.

210 is a great car.

Did 225k miles in mine before I stuffed it up the back of someone on the M25 :wallbash: :o

Hope my 211 lasts as well ! :thumb:

as i said in another thread, Yesterday i parked up in waitrose next to a x reg slk and also saw a 51 reg slk and both of them had rusty arches and bubbles all over the place so they rust as well not just w210! Ive seen quite a few c classes with just as rusty wings.

I haven't had a car with LESS than 100K in quite a while .

My 300TE-24 had done 430K (according to M-B Glasgow service history) when it was written off in my drive by the woman who crashed through my wall - drove like a new car prior to the accident .

A week later , Jan got her car written off outside the house

I was so ticked off by the first crash ( one of many at the bend near our house ) that I had set up a video camera and caught the culprit on video !

The worst part was neither of these drivers were insured !

Why was it a write off? New rear door and a bit of filler :)

...so a two owner 190000 miler with all the service history stamps should be ok for a good few more miles....what sort of money would you pay for this type of car, year 2000?

Damn..

that is so sad... heart skipped a beat when i saw this.. the w124 estates were one of the finest cars made..

one day i want to own a pre facelift version, prob H reg in 280 or 320 guise in sportline.. what a car it must have been!

Simple answer from an insurance company would be that it would cost more to repair than it's book value.

They forget the humanity of it.

Just saw this thread again..

Im still so saddened by this episode...

glad no one was hurt, but the car... damn! looked like a decent car too.. almost in perfect condition too...

You won't find an H-reg 280 or 320. In fact pre-facelift 280s and 320s are extremely rare - there were just a few post-engine-change and pre-facelift cars made. I have sold a 320TE Sportline estate, though, so all is not lost!

Stumbled across this thread, at 91000 miles my 1990 300E is barely run in!!

I recall reading about a doctor in Scotland who skidded his 300D on ice and wrote it off. It had 450,000 miles or so on the clock and in recognition, I think his local dealership replaced the car with an identical (lower mileage) model free of charge!

How have you got on with the V6 and 7g reliability wise?

Go on Chris, tell im it's not missed a beat and pi$$ him right off!

Lol. Theres got to be an E320 that isn't a money pit out there

And if it's reliability you're after, a survey of 20,000 warranty policies recently carried out on European cars between 3 and 6 years old by Warranty Direct named the W211 Mercedes E-Class (2006-) as Europe's most reliable used car. Its 10% failure rate was 5% better than the next best car, Skoda's Fabia.[/unquote]

How`s that Steve

Note how well the E class does in comparison to the CLS. Bulk of E classes aren't V6 diesels but 4pot diesels. Bulk of CLS are V6 diesels....
