Hi people, new here so please bear with me.

Picked car up yesterday, 2010 E350 Sport CDi in white, absolutely lovely but a few niggles. I'm sure this has been asked about a million times but here goes.

So today, sat playing around, checked and changed both mirrors so they were as I'd like them, both mirror glasses move correctly, up down, in and out so no problem, pressed the folding button and they both did a full move outward and then moved back so they were fully folded in.

I tried pressing the button quickly and they then just moved slightly outward and kept doing this until they returned back fully folded in.

When I got home, I did a quick search and took a look at the settings > convenience > auto fold mirrors - turned off and on, locked car and mirrors didn't move, unlocked and again, mirrors just stayed where they were.

I know the motors work as they move ok, although the passenger side is a bit sticky.

Any ideas or am I off for my first Merc dealer visit :)

If you bought it from a dealer, return it for then to put right.
Resetting the auto fold didn't work so use the warranty.

Hey AMGeed

Thanks, unfortunately, purchased privately and typically, one bit I didn't fully check.

Visit to the dealers?

A good Mercedes indy can sort it out. Depending on where you are located in Hampshire, two really good independent specialists come to mind. They use all OEM parts but the labour is half the cost of a main dealer.

MBS in Southampton and PCS in Horndean. Both used many many members.

Good call. If my E63 wasn't on a service plan, Cole at MBS would be looking after it.
He serviced my previous E280 and E55 and they are very good.

Coupe more you could try before you head to a garage to take a look.

When on convenience settings, put options set to factory. Then go to the mirror option and have it on fold unfold when locking unlocking.

Also could do a battery reset, disconnect the negative battery for 15 minutes minimum this could have an affect on the mirror glitch.

If all fails, best have a garage take a look. Or buy your own personal fault code reader. They come in very handy.

Do you need to press the lock button twice to get the mirrors to fold in? I had this annoying set up on my M4, so coded them to fold on the single press of the lock button, just a thought.

My W212 mirrors fold on either a single or double press of the locking fob button.

I was advised to not use autofold , in freezing temps , motors / cogs can freeze and jump teeth on the cogs that fold the mirrors.

Hi people, thanks so much for all your comments so far.

Quick update, went to MBS, very helpful and will be seeing them a few times no doubt :)

350cls - MBS advised me not to do the factory reset through the convenience option as this wouldn't resolve the issue. I showed the guy the problem and he thinks there are pins that have broken that should stop the mirrors from folding the wrong way. I'm going to book the car in for them to take a look.

I'm also going get my wiper blades resprayed at the same time as they've started corroding. Also need to get some locking wheel nuts and full set of wheel nuts as they've all started rusting. MBS are going to fit these at the same time.

I'll update with the results of the mirrors when they've repaired them.
