E350. Blue efficiency engine idle speed

When I move off from standing start the engine hesitates a little before accelerating? My engine idle speed is a 500rpm. I am wondering if it is to low and that is why the engine sounds like it is going to stall when I press the pedal

My E350CDI used to idle at about that speed when hot, so I don't thinks that's an issue.

What year is the car? Early examples had an issue whereby the torque converter would disengage while idling in D and stationary which would result in a minor hesitation when pulling away. I thought this had been fixed with a transmission software update though. Try pulling the right paddle just before pulling away and see if that cures the hesitancy. If it does I'd suggest a trip to a dealer for a transmission software update.

Hi,the car is a 59 plate ( October 2009). I will try what you suggested.

Hi.it does improve when I pull the right panel before pulling away, so it looks like a diagnostic test is required.thanks
