filled her up. Then did the daily commute for 11d inc weekend driving. Took this pic when she needed filling up again.

584miles on one tank. There was still 5l of fuel left in it.

Not there was no ac and drove totally chilled with cruise on. Rarely went above 65.

I was amazed and also found I arrived at work less stressed. Might even consider taking up this sedate driving style more regularly

How big is the tank?

Ie what's that to the gallon? Just had 47mpg from my S211 yesterday.

That's why I like towing far more relaxing sat at 60mph than rushing around up to the next car brakes on / off :)

I went up to Preston and back from Hampshire on 3 quarters of a tank (not the huge tank either - only 4 cycl so standard size) -- 52mpg average for the whole trip.
And that was a constant 80 on way up (very early morning) and busy traffic on way back (70 average)

Amazing.

Do the latest models ask if you want a Latte, Cappacino, Expresso........ :D

Went for a trip to South Wales and got this...

Not bad for a 3 litre 260 bhp motor.. :D

But you're not using 265Bhp and yours is chipped so the display probably isn't accurate.
At 65mph you need about 20Bhp.

Try using the full 265Bhp for a tank full and report back. :D

Just to clarify my post.

I would easily expect to get serious milage on a single long distance motorway trip.

This is not what my posting is about. This was 10-11d of daily driving with a mix of motorway and London. I would say 70% motorway but no single journey was more than 25 miles.

I think thats amazing.

The E350 has a 80l tank. When I filled it up it took 75l meaning there was still 5l of fuel left in the baby. The 75l cost me £105:eek:

The cuppa apparently warns you when you're tired. Its never gone off in my time.

I agree the V6 Mercedes engine has a broad range of talents, one of which is the fuel economy in relation to the power and refinement available.:D
However, I would be devastated if I only did 600 miles to a tankful!:(
The CLS (with 80L tank) always gets over 700 miles before a refill and often over 750. This is not just single motorway trips, but general driving over a number of weeks. If I really try it will return figures like this:

His average speed is 53mph. Try doing that driving like a granny.

Poor MPG is a result of poor driving, not fast road speed. It's much harder to obtain high MPG as that requires good driving skills.

Ok - so can someone work out the optimum eco/enjoyment compromise taking into account oversteer, mpg, speed limits, fines, legal fees and journey times?

:D not in this country, don't think my license would survive that. Going off topic would a remap affect the read out ?

Apparently yes as many threads have said.

A decent remap shouldn't do, a tuning box probably will as it lies about the amount of fuel being injected to make the injectors inject more fuel than the ecu is being told.
