The twin air filters on the car are part of the induction manifold, the filter element is in a plastic shroud which forms part of the airflow.

I wanted to change from paper to cotton/washable, any easy solution available. I went to the Mercedes specialist in Birmingham but they couldn't help.

Thanks :)

If they are like mine the filter and housing are all 1 now.

If you have an E350 with an OM642 engine, you don't really have any choices, they are built into the housing like @OneForTheRoad said. It doesn't add any power to change them, and it's unfortunately £70 for a pair from MB. MB only recommend changing them every 40-50k - too much IMHO. I'd change them every 20k.
