Whilst car in for MOT last week and whilst on ramp noticed oil soaked undertray.

As soon as people hear OM642, the natural conclusion is oil cooler seals. However,
  1. car is 2015 and so should have the later seals
  2. the bulkhead and rear of engine is bone dry
  3. the alternator is covered in oil
  4. noticed wet around the filler cap collar area - poor previous aim?
  5. insufficient drips overnight/days to leave any oil patch on the ground
Plan is to try and clean as much as possible and "see" if anything obvious until can get it into a garage.

Any pointers as to causation much appreciated.

You do have the later seal (2012 ish ) . Hopefully it should be obvious when it’s cleaned up and new oil appears . Good luck buddy

Check the black o-ring at the bottom (near front grille) at the bottom of the the big silver pipe to the intercooler? Sounds like the culprit... won't be the oil cooler seals!

Edit: just found this thread, could be of use to you!

Appreciate the pointers. Managed to give the area an bit of a jet wash yesterday and so will monitor to establish if can trace/see any drips or spots.
