Hi all I've got a 2011 mercedes e350 bluetec efficiency it won't start i looked at the fuel pump and it didn't seem to be working so I changed it and it started pumping I bled the system and still it won't start changed diesel filter when I put key in the ignition the fuel pump kicks in you can hear it when I start to crank it just won't start the fuel pump is running constantly is this normal or should it go off once primed to start could this be an issue with the fuel pump relay any ideas please thank you

I wonder if it is immobiliser related, have you tried another key?

Got mine working. I over the course of 4 days, I'd prime it for a good 10 mins or so, there must have been a good amount of air in there or something.

On the last day I got pretty annoyed and saw on an OBD reader that when I cranked, it would build a little bit of pressure in the fuel rail and then dissipate pretty quick, but after cranking, turning off, then cranking again a couple of times super quick - I managed to get it running, although it sounded super rough and very shaky.

I ended up driving the car probably around 40 miles, and then it just was fine. So strange, no idea why it's just completely fine now. Maybe luck, maybe lots of air.

Does yours at least crank? where are you up to and what have you tried?

If your fuel pump keeps running non-stop, the relay is probably stuck and not cutting power. Classic symptom
