E36 amg

I don't think that's too high on the price considering what some people pay for E320 coupes and wagons.

Beautiful looking car, I can't remember ever seeing a saloon E36, seen a couple of coupes and estate, I suspect it will be the rarest of the lot in the end.

think it was £6500 a bit ago on here. good buy i would say and dont think you will ever loss money on it

W124 E36 AMG auto saloon, 1995, rhd, original AMG factory optioned car , Blue Black Metallic with grey leather upholstery, 272bhp, straight six 3606cc M104 engine with 4 speed automatic gearbox, Full factory AMG body kit, AMG driving lamps, E36 leather gear lever, AMG single piece 17’’ alloys, factory sports suspension, uprated brakes, electric adjustable heated seats and sunroof, cruise control, outside temperature gauge, air conditioning, headlamp wash/wipe, fire extinguisher, unused first aid kit, driver and passenger airbags, New CD radio with USB/SD card/AUX function, alarm and central locking, Seats 5.

Very few of these saloons were made (believed 20 worldwide but around 12 thought to be in the UK) and list price was around GBP £55,099 when new with options above. This car was first sold in Jersey in the Channel Islands.

Very good condition with full service history, 163,000 miles, MOT until 4th August 2012. The car is in daily use so is not a museum piece but it looks very good indeed.
The car drives very well and sounds great.

I have owned this car since 2003 and have receipts for following work in addition to the standard service schedule –

2003 - Head gasket, radiator, water pump replaced
2004 - New ECU and wiring loom fitted
2006 - New aerial fitted
2008 – Air con re-gas, new timing chain and tensioner, gearbox cooler pipe fitted
2009 – New engine mounts.
2010 – Front discs and pads and steering damper fitted
2011 - Rear discs and pads, new viscous fan and new O2 sensor; refurbished AMG wheels, bodywork refurbished.

All work carried out at the Mercedes Benz Specialists - Haynes Auto Technic in Worthing.
In addition to the above, paintwork has been professionally attended to as well when required.

Faults: There are a few stone chips in keeping with the miles, the mats need replacing (carpets underneath are super).

Worth a look if you are after an original W124 E36 AMG. Car comes with original AMG sales brochure and price list, and E36 AMG “additional instructions booklet”.

Not really IMHO. quite well priced I would say

I agree, this is a very rare car, moreso if it's as good as it looks.

Just wish I could justify buying it.

Sure its rare but in my view that alone doesn’t make it a £ 5.5K worth of car.

It is a good looking car .

If its such good value why has it bean reduced and where are all the buyers ?

Rarity is the only factor for the price and if it was for sale before I started mine,I would snap it up

Rarity is not really a sufficient factor for an elevated price - afterall try finding a mint condition Austin Allegro or some other car which is rare but worthless.
Generally, cars need to combine rarity with some other factors such as motorsport heritage/competition or be significant from some other viewpoint.
They also need to have charisma and desirability.
The saloon E36 whilst rare does not really have any of these other factors and being a saloon it is always going to be less desirable than the Cabriolet or Coupe.

Why does a run of the mill convertible command a higher price than a car which has been produced in limited numbers and been kept well over the years?

This E36 looks better than most cabs and coupes and is a piece of motoring history, unlike the coupe or cab which for a certain generation offer a romantic link to yesterdays MB.

Nostalgia alone also does not elevate a cars value.

Only thing that puts me off is that I have nowhere to store it and cannot really justify a third car at the moment.

At a guess, People are not buying older performance cars on the event of breakdown which would effectively make the car a write off due to the cost of repair.

The thing with the Austin All-agro is that there were literally thousands of them made and their rarity is due to the numbers remaining after the rest rusted away - the E36 was a limited number from the off.

Price is what some one is prepaired to pay for some think you may well pay £5500 or more to me its worth about £ 3K

I ALLSO THINK ORIGINEL NEW PURCHASE COST WAS ALLSO WAY OVER PRICED.

In to days economic climate £ 5 K buys you an E 55 Or C43 Or ( M3 ) Or W124 Convertible Jaguar XK8 or any number of seriously nice cars.
So to me its way over priced and I think may take a while to sell.

Sorry don’t mean to offend the present owner

Cheers kj

Am I right in thinking that was the first AMG that was built after they joined up with Mercedes in the early 90's?

But it's neither of those cars and any day of the week, month or year I could open up a website, paper and find anyone of those cars for sale.

Would I find another E36? In what looks like mint condition?

Naturally, if I was a serious buyer I would be looking to buy at a lower price but he would have my attention.
