Hi can anyone advise.

I have a 3l V6 2014 E400 AMG sport plus and spotted a 2015 E400 AMG line coupe that sparked my interest

The AMG Line apparently has a 3,5 litre V6 engine but both cars have the same bhp and performance stats.

Trying to understand the benefits of the 3.5 litre engine......

Thanks in advance

Not sure to be honest - as there must be a lot of typos on various web sites -

Changed to 3.5 from 3.0 around late 2014 iirc.

Only in the E coupe? Not used in any other model with a 400 or 450 designation. Seems odd that MB would use an engine in one model only.

I guess it's one for the ask JBD thread.

E400 AMG sport plus insurance group 45 but E400 AMG line coupe insurance group 42 ....so the extra 0.5 litre of engine reduces insurance ............bizarre!

It seems to have made it's way into the CLS400 as well and it must be an emission thing for certain markets as mentioned on the ask JBD thread.

It runs much less boost to generate the same 333ps so you'd assume it would hold plenty of tuning headroom if you were that way inclined.

Delivers torque lower down too which is welcome.

I am impressed by the thrust and smoothness of the 3 litre bi turbo V6 in my SL400 .. it sounds very dull though.

More goodies with the E400 as standard plus a little faster 0-62.

But much worse fuel economy and the old 7 speed gearbox where as the E350 3ltr has the new 9 speed box ....silky smooth :thumb:
