Hi all, I was driving my E430 estate today. No problems until I stopped at a roundabout and had the tell-tale slip and a bit of judder when pulling away. Drove for another 2-3 miles on a dual carriageway to a carpark at about 40-50mph, it was slipping a bit. Slowed to enter the carpark up a slight incline and then no drive at all! Got out of the car a there was ATF pouring out, it appeared to be coming from the front of the gearbox and settling under the radiator. It was all over the the underside of the car, even on the tail gate.

I have had it transported to my indie and await his verdict.

Question: How much damage could have occurred to the clutch packs etc in those 2-3 miles? There was no sign of any leak when I left home. Looks like a very sudden failure not gradual leakage.

Broken pipe between box and cooler perhaps? Concerning the clutch pack question, I'll let other better informed people to reply :D
