I believe the E50 used the older V8 (M119) and was only made for a short while before the E55 came around 1997/98?

But the details on the eBay car show a cubic capacity of 5439cc which would indicate a ‘55 lump? Not around in 1996 though AFAIK.

E50 is a pretty rare car that used the M119 engine. The 5.4 designation probably came from Ebay if they could not recognize the car or pulled the vin from a database with wrong info. It would have been nice to include pictures of the engine bay.

Yes this is correct, quite rare and most went to Japan.
