E55 exhaust question

If you do not want any drone at all do not go straight pipes. It sounds amazing like a NASCAR but unbearable at low rpm. I have C63 boxes fitted now and is perfect for my liking. On throttle blip it pops slightly it really brings the w211 55 to life. I intend to do headers in the future. Also the resonator delete replaced with X pipe possibly. A big thanks to a member on the forum for supplying the boxes to me very nice guy. I did start a new thread on the new to me boxes I had fitted but it was deleted when the site was having a makeover.

Also the original boxes can be gutted as I always thought mine sounded different to to other original e55, when I had 63 boxes installed the fabricator informed me mine had been. It was a nice tone but just a bit more than stock e55 noise.

For me next step will be res replacement if that doesn't do it for me it will be headers.

Do the headers! Big performance gains and sounds great

Anyone have experience of the MEC backboxes, the quieter ones. No need to cut the bumper as with Eisenmann.

Alex what are you using on your build?

I have Brabus back boxes on mine. Even with the straight, cat-less exhaust they sound pretty civilised, not defeaning. What about gutting your existing boxes? Removing the insulation will make them louder.
