Attended a GTG at Amberley Museum today and it has been the first chance to give the E55 a decent run out since I bought it early July.
I am even more impressed with the car now I have found what it is capable of, and how much better a workout away from a busy town environment improves the drivability and fuel economy.
It sounds stupid to say the quicker you go the better the fuel economy is(within reason)......but that is what happened. Chugging around town and seeing 12.8 - 13.7 mpg isn't fun and the car doesn't appear happy unless its given its legs to cruise around 80 ish and 2000rpm. Well it got that today, and I managed a reading of 23.8mpg average over 76miles. Well pleased with that, not that I got an E55 for it's frugal fuel economy, but a vast improvement on town running figures.
