E55 paddle shifts

It is an S202 with a 722.6. I have a standalone controller for the 722 which has inputs for paddle shift which I would like to use, but obviously the vehicle doesn't have paddle shifters as standard.

I just thought fitting a W204 wheel which has paddles would be easier than finding an E55 wheel and modifying the buttons into paddles as per this thread., hence my query about the column splines being the same. I guess I'll have to buy one and see!

Just to make you aware the 5 speed 722.6 box was available both as tip and non tip.
Standalone controller? Whats that?

A standalone controller is a controller which stands alone from the car ECU. lol

I have no idea what tip means but the w202 c250 came with a 722.626 which the above controller is designed for.

Has anybody had their E55 steering wheel off for the paddle conversion and though ''Hmm, those splines look similar to other model/year Mercedes splines'' ? Because that information would be very useful.

There is a thread on this on the AMG section with a simple solution for E55 paddles coming soon

Hi,
To establish if you need a convertor module you will need to remove the airbag and trace the wiring from the gear shift buttons, if each one has a separate plug as opposed to the wiring from the buttons splicing into each other then you wont need a converter.
If you need a convertor module I have one, bought in error and never used.
Hey mate, still got the converter module? Is it the lm21?
