Hi all :)

Still thoroughly enjoying Simon's old car and thought I'd post a few updates I've had carried out since purchase.

The original headlights had become home to some insects and whilst I was able to remove them (very fiddly), the chrome inside had started to fade/peel in places plus one of the indicator mounts' legs had broken. The exterior of both units had also started to cloud (slightly) and whilst I have experience of refurbishing these, they are never as good as new.

So...

I decided to get them replaced with new MB units to include the ballast, ignitors etc. entrusting the job to Mike and the guys @ MB of Medway (bumper has to come off for this). Also sold the old units to recoup some of the cost.

I think they make a huge difference to the look of the car and hopefully won't need replacing again... Headlights - old/new

The old headlights didn't look that bad Ben...................until I saw the photos of the new headlights.
Really freshened up the front of the car doing that. :thumb:

Great to see such attention to detail on such a special car!

Without intending to trigger 'buyer's remorse' for such a wonderful job, my experience as an alternative option for anyone reading is to use a specialist company such as ROC Headlights. They polish and re-lacquer the lenses for a very reasonable sum. They look almost as new, dependent on the starting condition.

No worries - I'll bear it in mind and it's useful to know if they get damaged etc. in future 👍
