Hi All
the car im getting has no spare tyre or any kind of inflator kit... I would prefer spare tyre.. a space saver. would an SL 500 space saver be an option? would this fit in the boot housing( not sure as don't have car yet) if this isn't a viable solution can someone advise? as I have previously used the canned stuff but can cause issue with imbalance if you leave it in and don't change tyre/ repair. many thanks

Spacesaver will work if it is an 18" wheel. They are rare as hens teeth and expensive, otherwise it will not clear the AMG brake calipers. Unless it is a later model that was supplied with a spacesaver, then the wheel well will not accomodate a spare. The battery is located between the rear wheels. It can be relocated but that's a lot of hassle. I opted for a full sized 245/40 18 spare which I chuck in the boot if I go out of town, but this takes up a lot of space and carrying a suitcase in the boot is no longer an option. Remember if the spare is not the same as the original wheel, it will require different bolts. Spacesaver bolts are usually supplied with the wheel.

I have this problem too and will get one of the Mercedes tyre repair inflators until I can source a spacesaver. I don't fancy a puncture miles from home without a repair kit or spare tyre.

Boot half full, or half empty?
