I am considering swapping my C320 Cdi 2006 for an W211 E55 2005 due to the very very low mileage I now do in my car (less than 10K per year). Since I got the car new in March 2006, it has only done 19K until today 5/8, so alot less than average.

Nothing wrong with the 320 cdi, great car with a great engine, just wanting to have some more fun. Fuel prices does not affect me due to my low mileage every year. Neither does the VED as it's the company who picks up the bill.

Question is, is there anything I should look out for?

Greatful for any thoughts on this.

Thanks.

I have found one black E55 2004 with only 31K on the clock with lots and lots of toys, incl the ventilated seats (something I really want). It also have comand (which Alfie and Comand.co.uk otherwise would fit for me).

Greatful for any thoughts on this.

Thanks.

If you are who I think you are, then you have the Datacard for this car on its way to you via email.;)

See my comments in the email about it not being UHI phone, otherwise a nice car.

Hehe.... yes, thats me alright!

Thanks for the extremly useful datacard.

Just need to make sure I will not regret doing this.....

Have you bought it yet NewMB?

The W211 E55 is an awesome car. I made this thread a short while back it may be of interest to you.

Happy to answer any questions you may have. I bought mine with a very low mileage, 21,000 on a 54 plate last year it's now done 47,000. The only problem I have had is the intercooler pump failed (a common problem around 30 to 35,000 miles) but it was fixed in a day under warranty without question.

Otherwise it has been fault free and cost no more to service than my previous W210 E55 and E240.

No matter how much torque you get with a diesel in the mid range nothing will prepare you for the E55's and nothing will make you swap back!

Good Luck

Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the link. Very nice read.

No I haven't yet found the one I want. But I am looking (after Alfie's recommendation) for one reg late 2005 onwards.

I only have two "must have's", Comfort Seats (ventilation etc) & it must be black. Found only two so far and they are both to old. But I am sure I will soon find something, the usual 3 years old cars should be showing up shortly. I buy preferably from an MB dealer. My local dealer have been contacted and they are looking as well. Hopefully he can find something.

As a note to your link, I have driven both E63 and ML63 and yes, they are fantastic piece of machinery that just goes and goes. Never tried an E55 or similar.

I am quite looking forward to try one as currently I do have "enough" of mid range shove (can one ever have enough?!) in my diesel.

Now, all I have to do is to play the waiting game.

Good luck with the search, always good fun, I hope it lives up to your expectations.

I have the comfort seats and very good to they are on a hot day. My "musts" were a sunroof, parktronic, comand, phone prep and memory seats as I use these every day. I bought mine through the specialist dealer Bramley; they sourced the car to my brief and came up trumps within a few days. They provided a full used Mercedes warranty as well. It was my second car from them and a great "shopping experience" a real revelation from the franchised dealer despite the car being at the bottom of their stock list, so may well be worth a shot for you.

Regards

Richard.

Thank You very much. I believe the memory seats are a standard feature, all E55's I have seen have Comand, if not then the real negotiations can start. Parktronic & Phone prep is a must and having a car after late 2004 I can use my funky silver & blue SAP module with Nokia E51. ;)

I will have a look at the company you mentioned.

No, I have chosen not to put it up anywhere yet as I need to source the replacement first.

But I could certainly let you know details and a link to pictures taken on the day the car was detailed by a professional company.

Please let me know if you would like that.

Both Comand's were extra as recently as the April 2005 price list that I have relevant to my car. Memory seats are standard, parktronic an extra.

You wouldn't by any chance have a .pdf copy of that brochure, or pics?
