One of the bits done on my car under warranty last week was the secondary air injection pump, but it looks like it has malfunctioned again less than a week later which I might have a hard time trying to sell to get it fixed under warranty again, I've read some stuff on US forums that there is a recall for this issue as the ECU doesn't turn the fan off when it should, does anyone with an E55/SL55 know the details for the recall as my local Mercedes dealership only had one for something to do with a brake bracket listed.

Oli, there is no recall on this in the UK, a few months after getting mine check engine light came on, local dealership said it was the secondry air inj pump and wanted to charge me the whole whack £500 ish, i rang MK MB where i bought the car from, they towed the car back to MK and replaced the relay, its been fine since! tier 2 warranty didnt cover it also, tier 1 would cover it!

if you have had it replaced already then the MB 2 year parts warrenty should cover it.

Cheers Alps, mine had a replacement relay at the same time but seems to have failed again, it is an original MB part though so as it has failed within a week I would be able to get a new one FOC?.

i would say yes as the parts alone have a 2 year warranty, id ring the dealer up where you had it done!

who told you the same part has gone again?

The car came up with the same fault code again on the computer, well if it's a faulty part that's easily enough fixed it's going in tomorrow so hope all is well.

Been into the garage today and a bit of a head scratching moment:confused:, the pump is working, getting power to it and the relay was undamaged, might be a bad connection in the wiring.

Hi everyone. Jason again. Got here for a particular reason and that is because i badly need some help. Don't know if this is the right place for it. feel free to move it though.

I never got a notice and my car is dealership serviced. Then at 90,000 miles they said, "Oh there was some recall work that we'll have to do next time." It is a MB 1998 by the way.Any help would highly be appreciated. :D
