As long as you have manufacturer/dealer warranty keep driving the car as it's intended to be used.
When warranty is about to expire trade the car in for something else or sell it to the next possible buyer then you don't have to worry about engine failiure or other possible costly repairs?

Would Manufacturer/dealer warranty only be available on an non modified car?

Yes I believe so.. there’s insurance companies that offer warranty and with them I know the car has to be standard

Hi , I suppose that if you look at AMG Mercedes extended warranty costs it tells a story !
Yes like £2000 a year that’s why a lot of people get third party warranty but again not sure if it’s worth the paper it’s written on.
Iv spoken to loads of AMG/Merc Specialists long as you let everything warm up before booting and cool down before turning the car off with doing services as scheduled you “ should” be fine

My 33K mile M157 is ÂŁ2850 for 1 year warranty. I believe C63's are a similar price.

Mercedes wouldn't entertain any claim on an engine problem if its been remapped.

What is your course of action should you incur engine trouble?

I'd do what Dennis did and take it on the chin and pay for it myself.
It's the only alternative I can see.

I suppose that's all you can do.

No point in paying for a warranty, if the warranty doesn't cover a modified engine.

Apart from a used engine with unknown condition.
I'd rather do a rebuild if keeping the car.
I hope nobody has to do an engine rebuild due to internal damage.
It's a risk you take when remapping a turbocharged engine , or supercharging n/a engines.

I wouldn't pay ÂŁ2850 for a year anyway, modified or not.
Got a warranty on yours?

It has to be unmolested otherwise warranty is compromised, I thinky you already know that?

I did have the first year, the car come with a decent warranty. I haven't the last two, didn't renew it.

Unmolested in terms of modifying or on way the car has been driven. Has to on modifying I would have thought.

Nope, wasn't aware a warranty wasn't valid if mods were performed on the vehicle. Never have tuned a car that I've bought. The vehicle could well have had, but not to my knowledge.

Would you renew it now at ÂŁ2850 a year;)
And what would you do if you had a complete engine failure?

I would hope total failure would never arise🙄

At a certain cost no. But if my car was newer than it was. I most probably would.

Fair comment. There does come a point when the cost of a rebuild isn't financially worth it compared to the value of the car.

If you are going to modify I would recommend that you shorten the service intervals to match. Oil and spark plug changes should become more frequent. Misfires on the m157 can be terminal.
Similarly if you are going to supercharge your m156 a similar regime would be prudent.
Sorry if this seems like egg-sucking, but you’d be surprised how many times I have to say this to customers

What intervals do you recommend for plugs and oil for a modified M157?
I changed my plugs well before "time" and will change oil twice year, but just curious what you'd recommend in terms of mileage.

If you are going to push “the devil’s number”, (my recommended max on stock rods) I’d halve the time/mileage that mercedes say. 6 months/5000 miles sounds ideal for oil. 10k for plugs max
