I've placed a deposit on a dealer supplied E63 wagon. They're telling me the service plan is £52 a month for an AMG with the next one being a 'B' in Aug 2019. They are not willing to do anything for me regarding the looming service, either.
I've read through most threads regarding an E63's and generally found £42 to be a more average amount.
I do between 4-5k a year and am beginning to shy away from their plan as the experience hasn't been exactly great, so far.
The 4 yr B service is a big one as I understand, with the usual items plus plugs and tranny, if I remember.

Pics and details to follow, hopefully
Thanks

Hi,

I don’t think an E63 would have been £42/month for a annual service plan amount. I got a quote last year and it was more than that. £52 is probably correct - and maybe they’ve had an increase for 2019?

Although you say the service in August is looming, it’s fair to say it was only serviced 8 months ago? It’s a pain that it’s an annual interval now regardless of mileage (as they used to allow two years on older cars). For a car like an E63 though service history is important for resale value - so even £52/month isn’t bad if they are doing a B service with plugs and transmission fluid etc. Up to you of course - and depends on how long you’re keeping the car, it’s probably best value having a 3 year plan? (B-A-B)

How many services and how many monthly payments were you quoted for?
A longer payment period eg 36 months instead of 24, will reduce the monthly payment...

Great, thanks for the replies and info, I will get back to them with the questions you've outlined.

If past history is anything to go by, I keep a car for about ten years.
I've previously carried out most servicing and part replacements by myself, although engine internal items like chains, guides and tensioners that require more knowledge I will leave to those who know. Fluids, brakes and plugs etc, I'm more than happy with.
Ideally I'd prefer a very good and trustworthy independent over a dealership but as you say it will work well with a B-A-B service schedule, I think I just like to more involved with the goings on.

It’s based on the number of services per year though.

A 2,3 or 4 year plan will be the same amount per month if it’s one service per year :)

Hakon,

If you’re keeping the car for 10 years then I’d just service/maintain it how you see fit.

Perhaps look into that service plan for the first 3 years if the costs work out (the next B service will probably be good value even at circa £600) and then maybe look to independents/some home service items if you like thereafter. You can always do stuff like discs/pads or use a local garage/MB specialist if you want to keep other costs down, rather than paying MB’s labour rate for those items.

Not sure on the age of the car but it’s possibly worth a couple of last dealer visits to iron out any niggles and for any possible goodwill.

What sort of warranty are they offering on the car btw? :)

Again, thanks.
It's a 07/2015 registered and comes with a two year MB/AMG warranty.

As you say, I've specifically sought a dealer car in order to have piece of mind for the two years, how long I keep this one we shall see.

I said I'd never sell the previous... but this well thought through and fair looming London emissions knee jerk reaction has prompted my hand,boo…..the silver lining is an E63 however. !

Done, collection next week with pics and specs.

Still debating the Service plan / Indy….

I'm in south west London,I'm happy to travel an hour + to see a very good independent garage. I see there are a couple of ones down the A3 towards Southampton which keep popping up in recommendations etc.
Any thoughts on perhaps AMG orientated garages that I can call and have a word with ?

This is my first car that has come with a warranty in over 20yrs. I'm right in thinking that independent garage with all the necessary tech will be able update the electronic service record to keep the 2Yr AMG warranty happy ?

Thanks

I paid for a 3 year service plan up front when I bought my C63 507 coupe. Came in at £1,540 from memory which equates out to £42 per month over 36 months. This approach worked for me as I had budgeted for the service plan in my purchase price and the car was scheduled to have B, A and B services next so worked out very cost effective for me at the time. I also get the Mobilo folks available across Europe if I need them for the next 3 years as well :thumb:

my wife is paying £30pm for her A180 so £52 doesn't seem bad at all!! (or we've been mugged off two years ago )

Thanks for the replies everybody.

Looks lovely

That’s got the forged wheels too :)

Have you got the rest of the option list/data card etc?

I do, but I'm having trouble with Mac and formats, this work ?

Doesn’t seem to open on my iPhone, not sure if that’s of any help!

I pay £45 for the service plan on my E63s estate (2017). Look forward to seeing some photos.

I pay £40 a month on my E63 but that’s becaise I took advantage of the AMG 15% off offer sometime ago. So £52 sounds about right to me.
I think the service plans are worth it even if you have an ABA schedule tbh.

All done, took the service plan too.
I love it, although just spotted a minor oil weep from the passenger side waste gate actuator or from a gasket on the turbo, hard to see.
Am I right in thinking that Brooklands have more experience with our cars than other London dealers ?

I have used Brooklands since they opened for all of my Mercedes and I can recommend them, especially the AMG side, as they have the AMG experience there and obviously service all there AMG's.
My service plan is £52.00.
