Sorry to ask a silly question. What's the difference between normal facelift M157 E63 v E63s. Does the S have 4WD? Enginewise, what are the updates or upgrades, ie camshafts. I'm aware the chain was updated to the solid chains from around 2015, does this apply to both normal and S models?

Also does the wagon version come with factory rear tints?

Thanks in advance

We never got 4wd in this country. As far as I'm aware, the difference is solely down to engine management, basically a little more boost.

The S version has uprated cooling for the turbos, Affalterbach crest on the front headrests, S logo in the cluster and an LSD.
Slight power increase over standard E63 but a remap to a standard car brings it way more bhp and torque than the E63S version.

As mentioned above, 4 wheel drive was never an option in the UK on the 212.
That's where the W213 scores heavily with traction and far better 0-60 times.
Rear tints may be an optional extra.

Edit, the stronger timing chains were fitted around 2013 when the facelift version was introduced.
A quick look in the oil filler cap can confirm on cars of that age.

+1 on the cooling upgrades

What would I be looking for in the filler cap to check which timing cain is fitted?

Another question please, do they have floating disc or solid ones at the front? Thanks

Interestingly my 2012 m278 4.7 tt has the new type stronger chain fitted. I have not had the car from new so it could have been updated at sometime.

There could have been a recall on them ?
