me too. A class is just wrong for me, just like a Phaeton has no business being a VW.
really !! The A45 is the most powerful in standard form between them , it's also a good looking car and the interior worlds apart the only down side is the price but saying that the star at the steering wheel has got to be worth it! ;)

Just to put this out there but what sort of roads is the Op driving on for the increased mileage? If it's town driving mostly then a smaller engine returns far better mpg but if it's mostly fast A road / motorway then the difference is much smaller.

As an example I took my 335d xDrive in for a service and BMW gave me a 1.5 litre 3 pot Mini. Supposed to do something like 80+ mpg on a long run according to the official figures.

I drove it for an hour on a commute on almost all A road to where I was working then no differently than I drive my 335d. It returned 1.5mpg less than my 335d.

In theory it doesn't make sense but I chalk it up to my 335d having an 8 speed automatic box with enough power that the engine rpm is extremely low to pull off 70mph. The mini on the other hand with only 6 gears and probably geared more for being a town run around was revving a lot higher. This completely ruined it's fuel economy vs the bigger engined car.

So just saying that if it's longer runs then the bigger engines cars can return mpg much closer to smaller engines cars if they are geared to just tick over at 60 / 70mph.
