Hi All, advice time for a new E63 Owner. Good news is that the 2007 E63 i've just bought has almost flawless servicing and has just had a full oil change, and plugs 1 yr ago.

My question is twofold. Firstly the Transmission Service was last done in 2012 at 35k miles. The car is now on 59k so some way off the mandatory 40k Miles to next service. There doesn't seem to be a recommendation on time since last service in the service book for the Auto Trans. Is it truly an unlimited time item and solely based on mileage? I'm tempted to get this done anyway for peace of mind given its been 5 years. Any idea of cost for transmission oil change?

Secondly has anyone got an informed opinion on the MB Service plan? At this age and low mileage is it worth going on the plan or sticking with an independent?

Thanks :thumb:

The transmission fluid change using genuine parts should be around £200 at an independent specialist., I would suggest a good independent for all servicing at 10 years old.

Thanks.
Will call around tomorrow.
Anything else to the Transmission service other than the oil change?

Where about are you as there are a few recommendations available on garages, based on your location?

Hi,
I'm Near Poole in Dorset.
Have used Kartechnic and Star Tech in Poole, but not owned and AMG before.

Had recommendation to go to Southampton and use MBS.

Open to suggestions!

Cheers
Damian

I use MBS and would recommend them. A little further along (Horndean) is where Olly resides (Blackc55 on here)

I cannot comment on any others from personal experience

A good indi is where a car of your vintage would be best served

I live in Poole as well and use MBS for servicing.
I have used Startech on a couple of occasions for a CPS and resetting xenon aim but its MBS every time for me when it comes to servicing.

Thanks . After being told by my local Mercedes that after the first autobox oil change I would never need to change the oil again I knew a good Indy was the way forward. MBS it is.

Mercedes did go through a period of "sealed for life" gearboxes which meant the gearbox had a life of one week.

I'm not sure your gearbox was part of that vintage though as I think it was late 90s / early 00s.

Saying that I've read on at least one gearbox (forget now whether 7G+ or ZF8) that it only needs to be done once and never again.

Personally, I'm sceptical.

I understand the risk of not using the correct fluid but other than that...

Exactly. Hard to imagine that transmission fluid doesn't degrade with age and wear. I'll wait until the next service and then get it done.
