I live 10 miles away and am finding it very difficult not to go and take a look/test drive:oops:
Does this engine model suffer from the headbolts issue?

Looks like a "nice motor." To my eyes the key point is the quality of servicing: who's done it, how often and when last done?

Easy to imagine that it might have been properly done in the first five years and then scrimped in the last five, but a look at the paperwork will answer that question.

If the C1 CHF is still on there, that's of value. Maybe suggests that the last owner traded Swiss markets, which is fine - that implies weekend family car territory.

Which leads to my conclusion: potentially a good, high status, weekend family car, especially on any private plate. Maybe not so ideal for the daily commute because of the risk of maintenance costs, but "each to their own."

Mine had run flats fitted to it when I purchased. I can't speak for others but fitting non run flats really took the harsher front end feel away. My car also has a spare.

The seats are quite something I have the multi contour seats and can't fault them in any way. I find them so supportive and comfortable. I'm surprised how some say otherwise but every owner has there opinion.

The cornering bolsters are a gimic but the massage function is great :thumb:

That's the strange thing I found the 55k seats not supportive enough. I had standard seats in the 55. If I remember I couldn't get the lowest position for my liking and the seat base I found not the most comfy.

The E320 s211 we have now has standard seats, which are nice but for me not as comfortable as the w212.

Seats maybe are a personal thing but they are just too flat and unsupportive for my liking. I had the top of the range heated/electric/memory/ventilated/dynamic/multi contour ones with all the bells and whistles, and they were fresh as they come with just 11k miles on them, but I just found them uncomfortable to the point I would end up wriggling around with discomfort in the lower back after 2/3 hours
FTFY, Will ;)

I had two W212's with heated / cooled / dynamic multi-contour seats and found them, without question, the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in for long periods. But then I can sit on a motorcycle seat for 8-10hrs in a day and not worry about it...

Yes but it’s not as common as the Internet would suggest.
For example, PCS in Horndean - one of the very best Mercedes/AMG specialists in the UK - recently said that they had only ever come across three cars with an issue. So it does happen, and it’s not an inexpensive repair, but it’s not commonplace.

Of course they are a personal thing :)

It’s only as I ran both cars back to back for quite some time I felt able to make a comparison - no question to me, the ride comfort and seats were better on the 211, but the 212 was a more dynamic car to drive as you would expect.

I think it’s generally accepted that lower profile tyres, stiffer suspension and sportier seats are not chosen for ultimate comfort. An E-class AMG is comfortable relative to other competition perhaps (BMW/Audi) but it’s no S-class, that’s for sure

In all fairness I wouldn't want it to be an s class ride, as you say an AMG is I believe to have some sportier factor to it.

I have just come in from a journey in the w212 63 and I find the seats amazingly comfortable. Personal opinion but I can't see the uncomfortable aspect at all. They can be adjusted so many ways it's amazing to be fair.

I had numerous 5 series e39's and found a few versions with uncomfortable seats. And others with comfort seats.

The reason it sold so quick was all down to THAT engine :O)

If it had had an M113K I'd have been tempted to talk myself into it...
