E63S Gets Its Gtechniq Treatment

Looks great, John. Obsidian Black really does respond amazingly to the GTechniq treatment.

Oh, and I like the vanity plate too ;)

An estate car lovers wet dream is that thing.

does machine polishing remove any of the clear lacquer?

Yes, that's the whole idea. Swirls, marring and minor scratches are all in the clear coat. Polishing removes a few microns of clear coat and with it the blemishes

how many times can you machine polish before you remove all the lacquer?

Depends on thickness of lacquer and rate of removal.

Paint thickness gauges that can breakdown the thickness of actual layers are super expensive so first you are likely to know about it is if you strike through :-(

Realistically a heavy polish is not going to happen all that often and a good cleaning regime should reduce damage. Plus in between polishes and when heavier swirls etc become evident some good products out there that can level and fill giving the illusion of more level topcoat.

This is why the DA Polisher my good lady wife bought me two years ago has stayed in the box.

It's the skill that you pay for, both with the uniformity of polishing and the application of the product - Crystal Serum needs wet sanding to remove it if it's incorrectly applied .

Thanks again John - was a pleasure as always. Absolutely loved your E63S!

We will look at getting that film replaced with a much nicer film in a few months when we have the XPEL product available to us.

I've emailed admin to enquire about sponsoring this section, so hopefully we will be on board very soon :)

Thanks,
Russ.

Thanks Russ - it's always good to have a professional detailer around to answer questions :thumb:.

This sort of picture always turns me on.

Looks like a pukka job on what must be a lovely car to own.

I won't be rude enough to ask how much, but how long was the car in the workshop for?

Thank you :)

This would usually be 2 days with an overnight stay for curing, but we had it a little longer as we were a staff member down so we had it 3.5 days (Thursday am to Sunday PM).

This car looks totally awesome!!!
I'm based in the Midlands - may well take the C63 there...it would benefit from some form of treatment similar to what's been shown in this thread.

Very impressive.

Looks stunning

Great job

It's all that.....and a little bit more John! Looks stunning.

We'd be delighted to help - we've done about 15 C63's in total so know them very well indeed.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, really means a lot.

Russ.

Hi Russ, what are your weekend opening times?
I'd like to see what you think it could benefit from in the first instance.

Best Regards
