Early C280 photo's

My car's engine bay probably looked like that when it only had 16k on the clock (about 6 months old).

Yes, but American's generally can't tell the difference, having been brought up in a world of vinyl faux-leather in their 80's Cadillacs and the like.

Also remember that the Americans generally don't grit their roads through the winter also, which helps keep it all nice and clean.

Rare Canyon Brown.

Nice.

I always thought this but yesterday I read a so called fact that said less than 5% of salt mined goes into food and something like 25% of all salt goes on salting American roads.

Doesnt non ruffled door cards mean MBTEX and not leather?

You can see it's Mex-Tex in picture eleven.

And no airbags in the doors at all..

Interestingly the car does come from the US rust belt region.Their Winter is harsher than here.
MB-Tex does actually seem to be the standard US trim level in years past. The reason I think is the disgusting habit of drive through fast food outlets.Eating in the car is ideal for those to fat and lazy to stagger to the swill counter.

checking the dealers other lisings I think the cars must be coming from somewhere like Palm Springs where even bare metal doesn't rust.
Check the underside of this 21 year old.....these cars rusted away and went to car heaven some time ago in the UK. I shouldn't say this but the underseal looks better applied than a new A-class which I looked at on a ramp.

The only way your going to find a better vintage S class for sale is a build a time machine.Check the condition of the manifold and inner wheel arch on this one...

On the Discovery channel there has been a series on a full restoration of a MG.That MGA must of taken many many hours although the purists will turn their noses up at certain aspects of it.
