Hello all - apologies if this has been answered before, I cannot find anything specific.
MY 2006 W221's heater has just started to exhibit an intermittent fault; when it goes wrong, the fans run at a medium-high setting, whether the system is on or off - when on, the air is hot (very hot), when it's off, It blows ambient air from outside - which is currently uncomfortable. Whilst at fault, there is a whirr-clicking every ~10 secs from the outer vents. It fails and rights itself with no reason or predictability, it can even go 'bad' for a few seconds before recovering. Only the Off/On button changes anything - even the vent-close rollers do nothing to stop the chill/furnace.
Are there any typical causes for this?
I'd like to see some diagnostic info before going to my independent for another consultation/rinsing - I've read stuff about holding down the REST and Recirculate together for 5-10 secs but nothing is happening for me.
Please, could anyone say if a W221 will show anything without STAR, and can the system be 'reset'?
