Send cash in an envelope at the Post Office - costs about £4

German sellers are trustworthy in my experience

there are only 4 options I think

    1. send 40 euro in the post registered.

    2. or find someone with a euro bank account to do a transfer from.

    3. pay the £25 extra (ouch)

    4. don't buy it

Virtually none of the germans accept paypal they are too smart to be ripped off on the fees when a bank transfer does the same thing. There is nothing to stop UK sellers doing the same thing.

The high fee sounds like something for same day priority IBAN transfer. It should cost around €0.50 for standard transfer (48-72 hrs).

Have you checked to see if you can simply add his IBAN details to your online banking system for transfers? Usually that is the most straightforward.

Do you know this to be the case in Germany?

If so a very large proportion of german ebay members are breaking the rules!

    Only in some countries.

In Germany people prefer to use bank transfer which is safe and free, so for now ebay don't force people to use paypal.

The Germans have seen Paypal for what it is from day one and simply refuse to use it.

Even the MD of Paypal Europe (who happens to be a German) very famously and embarrassingly required a lot of evidence to take Paypal on his sales as it' simply wasn't safe or secure etc etc...

I am just dealing with some1 from German ebay...made a bank wire transfer...which i was cacking myself while doing! But all seems ok, the guy is in constant contact. The stuff i bought should be here sometime in the next few days. Seems like German ebay members are generally trust worthy.
