Ec switch?

Has anyone any idea why the light on the EC switch stays on, on my clk 55 amg 208 model? Would it be that the gas is empty in the air con system?

According to the handbook it is because there is a fault with the aircon or climate control system somewhere and to avoid damage it has been disabled.

That said my car has run out of gas a couple of times due to a big hole in the condenser and a rusty pipe and it never disabled the aircon for me!

Normally it's because it is out of gas therefore you have a leak. 9/10 it will be the condensor.

Along these lines, my ac works but not brilliantly, I hear that Quick fit do a service.
Anyone used them? and are they any good?

Its fairly fool proof these days with fully automatic machines..

you attach the pipes.. the machine will recover old gas and oil and put in the correct amount of the same...

As long as kwik fit grease monkey punches in the right numbers.. nothing to worry about.

my bro had the ec light stay on, turned out to be a very dirty pollen filter i think. was replaced, a/c recharged then worked as it should

Cheers for that guys, already had a new condenser so must be something else, perhaps a pipe or even the pump, have to get it checked out now that summers here!

I've had it done, no complaints.

I had a call from one of my customers that was at quick****e for an AC regas and the "mechanic" could not find the re-charge points.

I told him to run.

Problem solved, one new compressor and a new pipe, plus a depleted bank account, would have been cheaper to wind down the window
