1999 CLK 230K
Hi everyone, this is my first post!!

Just bought myself a 1999 CLK 230K, the eco function on the climate control will not turn off when the engine is running. It will turn off when the engine is off, is this normal?? Does anyone know what is causing this fault, and / or howto rectify it?

Thanks

Daniel

AFAIK it means there is a fault in the air-con system.
I've sold my CLK now so I can't check the handbook.....do you have yours?

Yes normally indicates a fault e.g. no gas in the system.

Thanks for the quick replies. I have just had the air con recharged, albeit it was done by kwik fit!!

I will look it up in the manual. Just finished a night shift so I think I'll leave it until this afternoon!

Can't seem to find any mention of this in the manual... Has anyone experienced a similar fault?

Could be the pressure sensor is faulty?

Once the air con has been recharged, does the air con system need reset? Wondering whether kwik-fit have missed something..

It's possible that the condensor has a hole in it .... a car of that age , wouldn't be unlikely .

Usually just re-gassing it means the gas leaks out of the hole within a couple of days.

Did you get it pressure tested ?

Car is going into an air con specialist. Will let you know the outcome, it definately has a leak in the system as it will nolonger blow cold air...!

I must now be the only person hoping for a cold summer!
