Eco map mpg and towing

Hi, does the car computer known when you're towing and change the mpg accordingly on the dash or does it still calculate as normal as if you wernt towing? (W211)
Also what mpg are you getting? With normal driving without towing and a mix of a and b roads, driven in comfort mode with an eco map I seem to average 28 which seems a bit low (225bhp standard up to 265bhp with the map) e320 cdi

Yeah can quite easily hit 35 to 38 on main roads even with spirited driving, just takes a nose dive in town (21mpg)

My 270 CDI used to do low 30s on sedate A roads. It was more or less identical to my 2 litre petrol, but a bit quicker. Yous therefore sounds about right imho

The car calculates the fuel consumption in exactly the same way, regardless of how you’re using the car, towing, solo, fast, slow, etc.
