Hi,all i bought a wiper from ECP back in febuary which was the wrong fit my other half put it away without telling me while tidying up,it reapaired yesterday.I went down to the local ECP with the wiper blade which is still in the box and plactic sleve and receipt,i was just looking for them to exchange it for the right size and told they could not as it was over 14 days.Im not the biggest customer who spends loads of money their but you would expect them exchange it.I would understand if the item was damaged or had no packaging or i didnt have a receipt. To top it all i asked to see the manager who made stand around until i got feed up off wating..NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE ECP:thumb:

9 months is a long time. There's no doubt you're genuine but they have to protect themselves from the people who aren't. How long do you think one should have before accepting returns?

You have got a fair point about being kept waiting around though.

Whose fault was it that the part was wrong, yours or ECP?

I think what others were trying to say is that retailers (and trade sellers) have their own Returns policy, and ECP's is not unreasonable.

Have you considered selling the wiper on eBay? You may get back some of what you originally paid for it.

But he doesn't know what it fits?

I think they should of refunded you. And then gave you a twenty pound gift voucher for making you stand around.

Putting the time period that has elapsed aside, I was caught out with their 14 day period as I bought a set of wipers for my car and the rear one was the wrong wiper in the correct box and was told that I could have put it in there, but if it was within 14 days they would have just exchanged it.

How could I prove otherwise?

Hi guys

The policy is there to help protect us and we actually offer 28days when purchased online.

However for forum members we'''ll always try to help beyond that.

If it was purchased online and unused, I'll help arrange an exchange for the correct one (or another item)

If it was purchased in-store I don't have the ability to help further.

Please drop me a PM with your invoice

Pat

Err... you write on the eBay ad whatever it says on the box and add a picture of it? These things usually have a manufacturer name and part number.

Drop it in the dustbin, Life's to short!

I actually agree with that... and indeed I don't bother returning low-value items that I do not need.

However I tend to be careful with other people's money; the OP may be in a position where the cost of the item is significant for him; and he was clearly prepared to make an effort to get the refund (going back to the shop).

But not so significant if he took 9 months to do it...

My understanding was that his wife misplaced it so he could not return it until it was found again. Still, not ECP's fault...

But, I am not saying I know his financial circumstances, just that I am not making the assumption that this is an insignificant amount for him.
