ECU with corrupt data???

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help me with the following........The better half has had a bit of an issue with her W168 A Class. The engine management light came on yellow a couple of days ago and she experienced a loss off power to the engine. We called MB Assist who sent a local engineer out to diagnose the problem. He said it was an engine misfire caused by the ECU losing data and having a corrupt portion of memory. The engineer said this can be resolved by reprogramming the ECU by Mercedes at any dealership.

Has anyone heard of this before? Does anyone have any idea on how big a dent this will cause in my wallet?

if it is just programming then about an hours labour... if its the MAF sensor/ ECU gone then budget up to £1500
