Hi guys, I was having issues with my EGR last year and error codes was triggering the EML light when i went to get my car Mapped, i also opted in to get the EGR and DPF delete also. The guy said that he had done it. And the engine light didnt come on after since so i was sure he had removed it from the ECU. I've been having issues with boost and being in limp mode then i had to restart the car and then it would work ever since, I then went and got my EGR taken out and blanked hopefully that would cure it.

But now it's constantly in Limp home mode, so that's telling me that it was never deleted from the ECU and he could of just deleted the fault codes so they wouldn't show up.

It's a bit weird and strange that ever since the EGR got removed from the engine that i have no boost whatsoever.

Is there a way for me to know if the EGR is still programmed in the ECU and if so, deleting like it should of been should hopefully solve it?

Thank you.

Some engines (sorry can't recall the model) have pressure sensor nerby which needs of course read correct manifold pressure, and if blank is done wrong it may prevent sensor to get reading.

You had the engine remapped last year and have not had any boost since? Seriously? What were you expecting? Why didn't you complain?

no sorry i meant, i haven't had any boost since 4 days ago when i got my EGR physically removed from the car. Prior to that it was intermittent, so if turned the car on it might not have any boost, then turn it off then on again and it resets itself and then i do

So it is the EGR then, Why did you have it removed if it was functional?

it was not functioning properly, and advised by garages that it's best to get them removed as it's really expensive to replace. As a non mechanic you listen to the garages and thats what i done, it's all coming to bite me in the ass.

even though the fault codes are not showing it can still be there can't it? and thats what is causing me to be in limp mode?

Get the codes read with star or similar will eliminate guess work .
What year and model is your car?
I am not an advocate for tampering with emission control devices , they are there for a reason ... But unfortunately like You said people tend to trust whatever their garage says.
I have EGR and all I do is clean it every now and again.

We have even less idea than you have because there are a lot of possibilities but you have already started taking things off that you don't understand. Refit them all and take it to somebody who can help. That means somebody with Star diagnostics because it will be faster, more effective and much. much cheaper than guesswork.

i wouldn’t touch the car as i don’t know what to do, the garages as. i’m going to have to take it to a mercedes specialist i reckon. :)

2010, e250. fault codes was egr, but then not anymore so i have a feeling they’ve just deleted the fault codes and not the egr itself. i need to get it properly looked at by a mercedes specialist i reckon. and get the map reverted possibly

Don’t know how it works but maybe it’s mapped so it doesn’t open but missing connections would still throw a code

what actually is the code you’ve got

i don’t have any codes or EML, just no boost. EGR has been blanked off so it’s making sense all they have done is deleted the EGR fault codes, hopefully.

Weird there’s no codes, I get a code if I unplug the EGR motor, but otherwise it drives good, mines a pre facelift though.

that’s my confusion, because i got my car mapped last year and there was issues with the EGR and was showing fault codes, have they only deleted the fault codes from the ECU and not the whole EGR like they said they would.

i’m waiting to hear back from them.

Take it back to whoever did the EGR delete and ask them to rectify the problem.

Do you normally do a lots of motorway driving or just town driving?
