Hi guys - first time using this forum so apologise if i'm scratchy.

i have a C220 diesel. today when giving her a blast past a car she murmured and would not get full power, she felt like the trubo was partialy coming into action and then going out. i squeezed the throttle and this time she pulled like normal.

if i give the throttle a hard push down she gives trouble.

any ideas? someone said it might be the EGR valve.

what symptoms would a dodgy EGR valve give.

:dk:

Does it feel as it wont go over 3000rpm? If so, you in a limp home mode.

It needs scaning but a lot of times for CDI it turns to be MAF problem or (like you said) EGR sticking.

Hi

thanks for your reply - if i bang the throttle to do a quick overtake she murmurs and wont pull untill i lift off and squeeze throttle down a bit slower, then she goes like normal.

its not in limp home mode, its just the quick throttle squirt she's not responding to.

what symptoms does a dodgy egr valve create?

Can you go over 3000RPM? It does not matter if you do it fast or slow - can you reach high rpm`s?

yes i can go over 3000rpm. its purely on trying to overtake someone. generaly i put foot and she blast off past other cars, its just occasionaly i put foot and she goes no-where, she try's to accelerate but its like someone is holding back the turbo or a bit like reaching the rev limiter

Hi...My C220 CDI has the same problem. I took it for a diagnostic check and it was showing an EGR fault. Once the problem was cleared I ran the car for a while but the problem still exists. The car was ran on the diagnostic check again and it is now showing all clear. I am now going to try having the EGR valve cleaned as I believe that this is a common fault???

AggroV8: I think you might have sticky EGR spring and thats why is intermittent. I would start there first. I read so many posts about it before I done mine and I only feel bad I didnt check it first. Those are so common on those engines.

thanks for all the advice guys i will get it cleaned and i will report back.
cheers again.
