Electric Charging

Oh, what's 50% depreciation for the first three years of GLE400E ownership between friends? £45k maybe ? £15ka p.a.?

Or £12k "plus the VAT" on a business lease....

I have a young'ish GLE450 ..... (no 'e') and I'm well aware of the deprecation *per day*.

Much of that £45K is a 'GLE thing' not an 'E' thing.

Nobody in their right mind should buy a GLE new .... or new'ish.

All very much understood. I wasn't trying to suggest that it's an E thing.

Just emphasising that the joy of new car ownership comes at a price, which is often actually picked up by our companies / employers.

I was delighted to have owned a seven year old £100k Mercedes that had lost £80k in depreciation before it reached me.

A friend of mine has his ballroom dancing lesson cancelled yesterday. The lady who provides the lessons was up north and she has had no range anxiety.

No knowing the area she used the Satellite Navigation system to find the charging , a 4 car facility and all the chargers out of order. She found a 2 car charging facility but 8 cars waiting for juice and she was down to 3% of charge.

3 hours later she turned the car south.

Talking to my friend his dance instructor loves the car and the technology but her recent experience has questioned the suitability of the EV.

How very true. Choosing the right navigation software that has the real-time status of the chargers on route is paramount. Personally, I use ABRP. I suppose that it took some time before motorists learnt how not to run out of petrol, and so it's just a question of time before everyone learns how to correctly manage the charging of an EV. There's certainly a learning curve there.

It's this one:

Not cheap, but it took me across Europe without missing a beat :thumb:
