My CLK 220 W208 2002 driver electric seat has stopped moving backwards or forwards, all other adjustments work ok, help please.

Motor not working?

Motor not working?
Hi Bob, as all the other electric adjustments work OK, do they have separate motors? The seat became inoperative when I dropped the back the retrive an object from the rear seats, when I put the seat back into position, the seat usually returns to my driving position. When I realised it was stuck I moved all the other electric adjustments to see if it was a fuse, all work.

Check for obstructions under the seat or on the runners?

I don't know your specific seat but I'm guessing it has more than one motor. One for forwards and backwards, one for backrest forwards and backwards etc. Motors usually spin one way for forwards and in reverse for back movements. Seeing as one lateral movement is not working in both directions, that would be my guess. You may have broken a wire? WN's point is also valid but you have checked that.
