The present airport security advises that only mechanical keys can be taken on board (no electronic key fobs). Most MB keys are electronic; has anyone had any experience in the last day or two?

No, but you could have rigged up a transmitter inside the fob and had a bomb placed in the plane somewhere.
    One press and BOOM:crazy:

Bristol......... ;) ;) ;) Airport is now reportedly back to near normal with most, if not all flights leaving on time. Now what made me think of Bristol???  They also mentioned both Plymouth and Exeter airports, but Bristols!!!

Reminds me of a car stealership I saw once in London many years ago, proudly advertising "Used Bristols" ;)
