I believe the car should automatically release parking brake when you start driving AND automatically enable parking brake when you park it open the door

This is not happening??

Mercedes c200 2015 saloon bluetec sports premium I was told when I park the car and open the door the parking brake will automatically activate and when I put my seat belt on and put my car in drive then parking brake will automatically disable for both the above it’s not happening...
