Well the spacecraft Voyager-1 actually, has officially left the Solar System--- on the 25th of August 2012 a newly published paper claims. In Situ Observations of Interstellar Plasma With Voyager 1 Launched on the 5th September 1977 it is the first man made object to reach interstellar space. On a related note, i heard a great quip from Bob Geldof recently on his planned trip to `space`;

VIPs in space: the A-listers who want to go to infinity and beyond - at £64,000 a pop - London Life - Life & Style - London Evening Standard

He said `Elvis may have left the building, but Geldof has left the planet`!

Thought that was a great quote.
