Email problem

Can anybody tell me what this means?

503 This mail server requires authentication when attempting to send to a non-local e-mail address. Please check your mail client settings or contact your administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined for this server.

You need to set you mail client to use the same authentication for sending as it does for receiving mail. This commonly occurs when you are trying to send mail from a domain other than your ISPs.

I was trying to reply to an email sent to me through an email address I have with a trade association, and the SMTP server settings on my PC weren't correct. I don't use that email address as a rule.

Settings changed, email sent.
