I know this has been asked many times, but even with searching I cant find the answer:o
I have TMC on my maps, but how do I get the eta to show on the screen.
Does the car have to be moving before this will come up?
Thanks for bearing with me:o

You go into the nav settings and select for the information to be displayed on screen....Mine only worked when i bought latest disc but yours should still have it if you have TMC i think.....

It requires the "model year 2007" headunit update CD to be applied to the Nav application (part number A211 589 13 22 00) and then appears as a "display" option alongside the satellites display etc.

For pre-facelift E class cars, the dealers seem to now insist the update is not called for (i.e. its for the newer cars only) and will not apply it.

It also seems to have disapparead from the online parts sites and others have had trouble (recently) ordering it.

The CD has a copyright notice re unauthorised distribution but you might find one or two people on here have it and can't read a font that small...........

Would lending someone the disk to make the update constitute a copyright violation?

I think not as it is being used in only one place and a given time.

Does the car have to be in motion for it to show, I plugged in a route to test, on the details it tells me I should get there at 21.13, but this is not showing on the display.

I think it does as COMAND uses your speed to calculate the ETA

Just to be sure, this is how it gets turned on (if you have the s/w update):

Press MAP (i.e. go to MAP mode not NAV)

Press DISPLAY softkey on right hand side

Press MAP softkey on left hand side

Enable Estimated Arrival radio button (if its not there, you need the CD...)

(there is some confusion over this as there is also an update disk for the boot-mounted drive that has nothing to do with ETA!)

Then plan a route, once calc finishes and assuming there is no "turn" shown on the display, ETA and miles left will be shown on the bottom line.

Just checked, W124 is correct. The ETA will display as soon as the route is calculated, based on national speed limits for the roads chosen.

Once underway it is recalculated using your current average speed. It's quite interesting to watch how it changes. Suprisingly difficult to reduce the ETA by any significant amount...

Ahh so you need another cd apart from the boot mounted one! I installed two in the boot, the update and then the new map.
I think I might need the other one!

Lending would as the recipient is not the holder of the purchased copyright.

However, selling it for a nominal sum with a covering cheque and then selling it back for the same nominal sum and returning the unbanked cheque would allow the transfer of the copyright for the purpose intended.

The only issue would be the possible need to remove the software once the disc was sold if they got THAT picky..........

I have the ETA on the display on my 2008 ML, but it takes 5 'mouse' strokes to see the ETA in the 2007 S Class. Anyone know if it is possible to get this to display on the screen?

I cannot remember if it really needs 5 mouse strokes with the settings you seem to have but if the Comand has had the telematics update performed (for bird's eye view etc.), you can select ETA to be shown all the time at the bottom of the screen. I'm not sure if 2007 cars still need the update first, at least 2005 and 2006 cars do.
