hi - this has just appeared on my 2005 e320cdi.

does anyone know whether this is likely to be serious...or just a new filter. car was serviced 10 weeks ago by Mercedes...

That was a thorough service then, wasn't it..

Air filter required.

Well i just got the car from mercedes direct this afternoon...and i'll be taking it back in the morning to thank them wholeheartedly for their competence...or lack of it...fills you with confidence doesnt it!

Thanks very much for the diagnosis...appreciate it

Welcome to the forum dentist.

When I first read this I was curious as to whether it might be linked to a blocked particulate trap, with a vague translation to English.

I've heard of clogged DPF being a problem on lots of cars (Renault especially?), but not read of any MBs on this forum being affected - or at least I can't recall it.

Ah, a good point BD, forgot about that.. There has been some issues with the gel coating of the sensor getting dirty and flagging up the code.
A modified sensor has been released as a result.
