Engine appears to go into limp mode

Hi all

Just a quick one I'm new to these so a bit of advise would be great

I have a 2003 ML270CDI I've had it about a month and to be fair I really like it but just lately the car seems to go into limp home mode won't rev above 2k and speed is limited to about 50 to 55 mph
Now there are no light that come on and there appears to be no codes in the system indicating any issue but when I turn it off and back on again it runs fine now I have got glow plugs to replace on the car but was wondering if anyone of you wonderful people on here have had similar issues

Sounds like the classic speed sensor failing on the electroplate in the autobox. Had the same on my C270cdi

Is it a easy or hard job to do

It is quite involved but some take it on, depends on your facilities and confidence really. You tube will give you a good idea on what is involved. Any decent mb independent garage will know all about this job as it is a common failure. They will also be able to confirm the fault before you commit as you need Star to see the fault codes.
