I've been experiencing a battery drain overnight on my W203 and its been traced back to the block heater.

1. I've been quoted £672 but is this something I could do myself or is it quite involved?

2. Is there a fuse I can pull until its resolved so I don't have to keep disconnecting the battery?

Hi, Not sure if this is exactly the answer you, need, but it may give you a few pointers.

Cheers Ted, the dealer has confirmed its the engine block heater, they want £850 and I found a specialist who quoted me £672.

Seems a lot for what it is, don't mind having a go at it myself just not sure where it is. Dealer also reckons theres no fuse that can be pulled so I'm going to have to keep disconnecting the battery until its sorted.

ISTR from the other battery drain thread that the block heater is under the starter motor, and it's relativly easy to disconnect the damned thing! Please update how you get on - I have my suspicions about the block heater on mine, but until I get the outside air temperature sensor replaced (don't know if the electronics for the 2 items interract!) I'm not sure!

Look at disconnecting mine the other day but its a pig to get at you can't see it just feel it from underneath over the starter. It's a starter out job
