Hi All

I have a 2006 c220 cdi Sport.
70k mileage with full main dealer history.
Serviced 4 months ago with merc. Fuel filter and new battery replaced.

Now....I have never had any issues with this car up until today. As i was driving it simply went dead on me. Instant engine cut off.

AA checked & the following code comes up
2321 engine control unit watchdog reset. They said take it to a merc garage we cannot do anything.

I have no idea whats going on whilst running its just cuts off instantly.

Please can someone help or point me in the right direction.

Happy to share more information if required

Many thanks

Was this with the aa direct or through mobilo? With full service you get mobilo breakdown which have better access to Mercedes own diagnostics so maybe a better bet to find out what's wrong? Google mobilo.

Does the car restart after a period of time?
Does it cut out when the engine is warm/hot?

As above, with full Mercedes servicing, you have Mobilo breakdown.
The main dealer is far more likely to pinpoint the fault than the AA with a generic code reader.

morning

i have the standard breakdown cover direct with AA.

the car restarts sstraightaway with no issues.
i dont believe it cuts off when it warms up as this morning i started it and drove down the road and it went off straightaway.

it simply doesnt struggle when cutting off. Its a split second and everything engine wise goes off.

could it be the fuel pump not working correctly therefore not sending the fuel to the engine?

or is this a specific ecu issue?

please help

many thanks

You are guessing and we would be guessing - to stop the guessing you need to get it on STAR and get the codes properly read.

With a full main dealer service history, why are you not calling Mobilo to come and diagnose the problem?
It can be done on your driveway.

Hi All

Mercedes check done

They reset ecu and updated the software but issue has come up again.

They have said its a cdi control unit fault and will need to change it.

Quoted: £750 for part and a couple of hundred labout.......ouchhhhhhhh

Any help advice is welcome
